The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze the potential environmental consequences of the Nisqually Indian Tribe’s (Nisqually Tribe) Quiemuth Village Mixed Use Development and Fee-to-Trust Project, which includes the acquisition by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) of an approximately 174-acre property (Project Site) into federal trust status for the benefit of the Tribe (Proposed Action). Following the acquisition of the Project Site into federal trust, the Tribe proposes to develop a mixed-use development with residential and commercial uses and associated parking and infrastructure (Proposed Project).
A Notice of Availability for the EA was published on September 18, 2024 and initiated a 30-day public review period that closed on October 18, 2024. The BIA is in the process of considering the comments that were received.
